If asked, most Christians would say they are going to spend eternity in heaven. But that’s not correct. The Bible does not teach that we will spend eternity in heaven. In fact, we will spend very little time in heaven.

Jesus may have been concerned that news of the Transfiguration would be misunderstood as the beginning of the Messianic Kingdom (as did Peter) His followers might then attempt to enthrone Him before He went up to Jerusalem to die for their sins.
