Christlikeness/holiness will cost you! It will cost you the expense of laziness because now there is no more coasting through life! You will now need to be aware everyday of where your heart is going and what you are allowing in. It will cost you precious idols and false comforters as you begin to give those up and put Jesus back on the throne. It may cost you relationships as you get looked at as odd because you won’t watch the same movies, listen to the same music, or engage in the same forms of entertainment as others. It may cost you sleepless nights, not because you’re up worrying, but because you are up praying for the salvation of the lost, for strength for believers, for strongholds to be broken, and a host of other things! It may cause you the degree of loneliness that Jesus experienced because few people want to give what it takes to truly be like Jesus!
